White House Trio
Red, White & Royal BlueThe White House Trio is the official nickname for Alexander Gabriel Claremont-Diaz, June Catalina June Claremont-Diaz, and Nora Holleran, the three young adults at the center of the First Family's public image. Coined by People magazine shortly before the inauguration, the name was not a spontaneous journalistic invention but a carefully tested and deliberately fed narrative, developed with focus groups by the White House press team and handed directly to the magazine. The label was a calculated political move, a recognition that even hashtags and nicknames are instruments of political strategy. The Trio's existence was a response to the harsh treatment of previous First Children; while the Kennedys and Clintons had shielded their offspring from the press, Sasha and Malia Obama were hounded and picked apart before they were out of high school. The White House Trio was a bold new plan to get ahead of the narrative, presenting three attractive, bright, charismatic, and marketable millennials as celebrities in their own right, a strategy Ellen Claremont herself acknowledged was not ideal but effective.
