Martin Healy

Robert B. Parker's Wonderland

Martin Healy appears as a state-police contact for Spenser, delivering consequential information as the investigation into Rick Weinberg’s murder advances. His brief exchanges move the case from the recovery of Weinberg’s remains toward the identification of suspected killers, though an arrest remains uncertain.

Introduction and Role

Healy arrives beside an unmarked state police car with Lundquist and asks Spenser where Z is. After learning that Z is on assignment, Healy proposes that he and Spenser take a ride. The encounter establishes Healy’s practical working connection with Spenser: he seeks information about the investigation’s personnel and brings the detective into direct conversations about the case.

The Weinberg Investigation

During the drive, Healy tells Spenser that the rest of Rick Weinberg has been found, floating near the Tea Party Museum. A group of schoolchildren saw the remains, a detail that makes the discovery’s public setting especially stark. Healy is the bearer of the news, and his concise report marks a grim advance in the search for the murdered businessman.

Suspects and Uncertain Arrest

Later, Healy tells Spenser that the authorities know who killed Rick Weinberg. He identifies the suspected killers as the two men found shot in Chelsea. The identification does not resolve the case in practical terms: Healy immediately cautions that making an arrest may be difficult. His updates therefore carry both progress and limitation—the suspects have been identified, but bringing them into custody remains an obstacle.
