Stranded at Severn City
A routine journey ends
Clark’s flight from New York is diverted to Severn City Airport as the pandemic reaches North America. He arrives thinking the disruption may be temporary.
News changes the scale
Television reports reveal the speed of the outbreak and the failure of ordinary travel. Clark’s phone cannot connect him to the people he loves.
The Airport Remains

The Airport Remains
No rescue arrives
Passengers wait for officials, the National Guard, or flights to resume. Food dwindles and the television networks shut down.
Staying becomes a choice
Clark decides to remain rather than walk into a landscape he does not understand. The airport shifts from transit point to provisional refuge.
The First Display

The First Display
Objects replace certainty
After a scouting party returns, Clark begins arranging abandoned objects in a display case. A phone, a credit card, a driver’s licence, and a laptop become the first exhibits.
A museum takes form
Other survivors add objects without being asked. Their contributions turn Clark’s private act of remembrance into a shared account of the world they have lost.
A Community of Three Hundred

A Community of Three Hundred
A place of learning
The airport’s population grows, and children attend school in a concourse. The Museum of Civilization fills the former lounge with devices, newspapers, shoes, engines, and personal records.
The curator’s work
Clark maintains careful records and explains objects to people who have never seen them in use. The museum offers context without pretending that knowledge can restore the old world.
The Comics Recognized

The Comics Recognized
A familiar gathering
Clark reads Kirsten’s copy of Station Eleven and recognizes a dinner-party scene drawn from the life he once shared with Arthur and Miranda.
Memory opens outward
The comic makes personal history visible inside an imagined world. Clark wonders whether other forms of travel and connection might someday return, and finds hope in the possibility.
