Renklin
Systema Delenda EstRenklin, also known as the Hunting World of Renklin, is a deliberately unremarkable frontier world whose low power ceiling becomes its greatest strategic value. With no zone above Gold, it cannot comfortably accommodate Platinum-ranked Raine and Leese, yet precisely because it is remote, obscure, and peripheral to the System’s portal network, Cato uses it as the concealed launch point for a major defense operation aimed at the Zemy Plains Conflict Zone.
A Low-Rank Hunting World
Renklin is defined by the mismatch between its local hierarchy and the power of the visitors who enter it. The highest zone on the planet is Gold, leaving Platinum-ranked Raine and Leese conspicuously overqualified for the world. They therefore do not linger inside its city walls. Instead, they use their movement Skills to cross the planet at extraordinary speed, reaching the opposite side in minutes through near-teleportation.
That limitation also gives Renklin its strategic identity. The world is out of the way and low-rank enough that an operation beginning there is unlikely to attract immediate attention. In a System organized around ranked zones, portal links, and the concentration of authority in inner worlds, Renklin exists near the margins of notice. Its weakness functions as camouflage.
Cato’s Hidden Staging Ground
Cato had already placed a spear into Renklin’s distant blue-green moon more than a year before the operation. That long lead time allowed him to establish himself and prepare the world for the moment when Raine and Leese received their final upgrades. The preparations were as complete as they could be, but concealment remained essential: once the Defense Quest manifested, information might eventually spread, yet the participants hoped to finish before word could travel far enough to bring opposition.
The operation begins when Cato identifies a position in the middle of an ocean. Raine and Leese are suspended hundreds of feet above endless waves when Cato’s voice reaches them through radio-lizards and directs them to stop. He then promises to send everything down and complete the deployment. Renklin’s open ocean, rather than a settled urban center, becomes the receiving ground for a force whose scale would have been impossible to hide in the planet’s cities.
The Defense Quest and the Descent from Orbit
The mission that appears at Renklin is the Global Defense Quest, titled “Destroy the Incursion.” It recommends Bismuth Rank and offers an overloaded C-Tier Skill as its reward; its designated location is the Zemy Plains Conflict Zone. Although Renklin itself is not the battlefield named by the quest, it serves as the concealed threshold through which Cato’s response is assembled and launched.
Cato’s first major delivery makes the world’s role physically unmistakable. An enormous dark slab enters the atmosphere and plunges toward the ocean, generating a thunderous roar and a shock wave. The object is half the size of a town, far larger than the drops Raine has previously witnessed from Cato, and every part of it radiates the strange essence static associated with his technology. It strikes the water, chills the surrounding air with the cold of metal exposed to deep space, then stabilizes and opens at the top.
The opened structure contains Warframes and unfamiliar forms positioned as guards around a small central dome. From its black interior, thousands of small winged things burst upward and spread around the site. Renklin’s ocean is therefore transformed from an empty, low-ranked landscape into a concealed technological beachhead. The world’s apparent insignificance and Cato’s immense machinery stand in deliberate contrast: the quieter the setting, the more effectively it can conceal the arrival of overwhelming force.
A Threshold Toward the Core
Renklin’s importance extends beyond this single deployment. Raine and Leese had begun cutting branches through the frontier from the main trunk of the Sydean Lineage’s passage, following the vast perimeter formed by the System’s portal links. Their upgraded capabilities made it possible to turn their attention away from the frontier and toward the inner worlds, which everyone understood to control the System’s decisive structures.
Renklin thus occupies a transitional position in the narrative. It is geographically peripheral but strategically connected, a place where the protagonists’ upgraded movement and Cato’s pre-positioned technology intersect. The sisters’ rapid passage across the planet demonstrates their new combat mobility, while the quest and orbital deployment reveal how much larger the conflict has become than a local defense. The operation begins in a world too weak to command attention, but its purpose is to open a route toward the System’s center.
Consequences and Narrative Significance
The immediate consequence of Renklin’s selection is operational secrecy. A more prominent or powerful world might have exposed the preparations at once; Renklin’s Gold-level ceiling and remote status instead offer the obscurity Cato needs. Its weakness becomes an active defensive resource, allowing the protagonists to assemble forces without immediately announcing their intentions to the System’s inner powers.
The world also marks a measurable change in Raine and Leese themselves. Once they begin traveling and applying their Skills in earnest, they recognize small inefficiencies in muscle flexion, posture, position, direction, and Skill use. Cato’s kinematic modeling and combat algorithms correct those minute flaws, and the accumulated adjustments make both sisters half again as fast as before. Renklin is where that upgrade becomes bodily and practical: not merely a numerical increase in rank, but a changed way of moving through space.
For that reason, Renklin is more than a backdrop for the quest. It is a low-ranked world converted into a launch platform, a place where concealment enables escalation and where the protagonists’ improved bodies meet Cato’s increasingly massive machinery. Its narrative function is to show how the coming struggle reaches inward: the assault on the System’s controlling core does not begin at the center, but in an overlooked ocean above a world that almost nobody important would think to watch.
