Three Gods Faction
Systema Delenda EstThree Gods Faction is a System-aligned political and military faction whose authority is expressed through territory, teleportation infrastructure, and participation in the Crusade. It controls Spiral Outpost South when Raine Talis and Leese Talis enter it, and its network allows information about their presence to travel beyond the outpost itself. The faction therefore represents more than a local government: it is one of the linked structures through which the System’s divided worlds coordinate against Cato and the agents empowered by his technological heresies.
Territorial Authority and the Outpost
Three Gods Faction’s concrete authority is established at Spiral Outpost South, where the central pylon identifies the settlement as belonging to the faction. Raine Talis and Leese Talis penetrate the outpost’s defenses with Dyen and reach the Nexus, then place their hands on the central pylon and begin the claiming process. The pylon changes from white to red and announces that Spiral Outpost South is being contested by No Faction. The declaration turns the sisters’ arrival into a formal territorial challenge rather than a simple infiltration or raid.
The outpost’s teleportation system makes the faction’s control visible in practical terms. Available destinations carry faction labels, and some are closed to outsiders, while several Regional Capitals remain open to travel. Control of a pylon consequently governs movement as well as land. The Three Gods Faction’s possession of Spiral Outpost South places it inside the System’s broader geography of faction-controlled routes, contested strongholds, and restricted networks.
Communications and the Crusade
The faction’s importance expands when Kelem, a High Azoth of the Three Gods Faction, reports seeing people who appeared to be Sydean. Although Appraise did not return their names, Kelem’s direct observation convinced Muar that the report was reliable. Muar understood that Raine Talis and Leese Talis were likely Cato’s agents, and that their appearance could signal a larger move by Cato, who had been absent for years while gathering strength.
War World Osk is described as a patchwork of competing factions, but the Crusade has improved communication between them enough for Kelem to contact Muar, who is residing with the Alliance of Koshek Vir. The Three Gods Faction thus operates within a wider coalition rather than in isolation. Its information reaches Muar despite factional boundaries because the Crusade has made shared pursuit of Cato a practical priority.
Muar responds by treating the sisters as substantially more dangerous than their apparent rank suggests. He instructs Kelem to regard them as a full rank above what can be sensed, because Cato’s support has empowered them beyond ordinary elites. Kelem’s warning leads to the organization of an overland expedition, while Muar selects two experienced Crusade members who had reached Azoth with him. He refuses to send lower-ranked fighters and gathers enough strength to avoid confronting the sisters at even odds, where death would be nearly certain.
Conflict with Cato’s Agents
The faction becomes directly involved in the rematch between Muar and the sisters when Muar travels through its territory. Under ordinary circumstances, Muar’s lack of faction membership would have created serious difficulties, but the Crusade marks him as an ally. He reaches Three Gods territory through the teleportation crystal, finds Kelem waiting at the teleportation pylon with a small cadre of Azoths, and follows the group to an outpost near the one occupied by Raine Talis and Leese Talis.
This sequence shows how the Three Gods Faction converts local knowledge into organized pursuit. The faction does not merely defend Spiral Outpost South after the sisters contest it; its personnel identify the intruders, communicate with a senior Crusade leader, provide access through factional infrastructure, and assemble a force capable of confronting Cato’s empowered agents. Its military function is therefore inseparable from the System’s administrative geography.
Religious and Political Context
The Three Gods Faction belongs to the religiously structured order surrounding the System. On Uriva, Muar finds a temple honoring the planet’s god and the divine System, and communion with the System crystal restores his sense of purpose after his time in the System-less void. His meditation is rewarded with the Divine Insight Skill. This religious experience clarifies the ideological world in which factions such as the Three Gods Faction operate: System membership is understood by believers as access to truth, progress, and meaning rather than merely as political administration.
That faith is contested by Cato. He insists that his grievance is with the System rather than its people, while Initik argues that the two cannot be separated because the System shapes people and gives them purpose. Cato’s counter-invasion and the Three Gods Faction’s response dramatize this disagreement at institutional scale. For the faction and its allies, defending the System also means defending the social and religious order built around it; for Cato, dismantling that order can be presented as liberation without necessarily targeting the people living within it.
Narrative Significance
Three Gods Faction embodies the System’s ability to turn scattered settlements into a coordinated political field. A single contested pylon at Spiral Outpost South produces a warning, factional recognition, inter-world communication, and an expedition involving Azoth-ranked fighters. The chain reveals that the System’s power does not rest only in individual Skills or divine authority. It also resides in labels, gateways, quests, and networks that determine who may travel, who may claim territory, and who is treated as an ally or enemy.
Its confrontation with Raine Talis and Leese Talis also exposes the limits of that structure. The sisters can enter the outpost, challenge its pylon, and operate with abilities that exceed what their conventional ranks imply because Cato has supplied an alternative technological and strategic infrastructure. Three Gods Faction therefore serves as a crucial contrast to Cato’s methods: it relies on recognized faction control, System communications, and Crusade coordination, while Cato’s side exploits concealed communication, biological engineering, and agents whose real capabilities exceed official classification. The faction’s role is to make the System’s collective response visible—and to show why that response becomes increasingly necessary as Cato’s campaign spreads across its worlds.
