The Raiding Order

An Offensive Planned
The Bee City Targeted
The Hornet queen orders warriors to attack the bee city before dawn, plunder its stores, and take prisoners. Capturing Helen VIII promises an added reward, making the raid a coordinated attempt to break the rival community.
A Hidden Vulnerability
The plan depends on surprise. Maya’s presence in the fortress turns a secret command into information the enemy does not know has escaped its walls.
The Warning Changes the Plan

Surprise Lost
The Queen Is Informed
Maya reports what she overheard, giving the bees time to prepare for an attack meant to catch them asleep. The Hornets’ central advantage is now compromised.
Defense Organized
Helen VIII mobilizes scouts, soldiers, reserves, and wax-workers. The hive’s response replaces vulnerable surprise with a deliberate plan of its own.
The Entrance Tested

A Dangerous Feint
The First Report
A Hornet enters far enough to inspect the apparent silence and reports that the bees are asleep, while noting the narrowed entrance. The rest of the attacking force takes his report as an invitation to advance.
The Defenders Hold
The bee ranks remain hidden and wait for the queen’s order. Their stillness risks allowing the attackers further inside, but keeps the trap intact.
The Battle in the Corridors

Close Combat
Fighting Inside the Hive
The bee soldiers surge upon the Hornets, and the combat rolls from the entrance into the hive’s dark streets. The narrow space prevents the invaders from using their full numbers at once.
Opposing Advantages
Hornet armor and strength kill many bees, but the attackers become separated from their reinforcements. The bees rely on fresh ranks and coordination to make individual sacrifice count.
The Decision to Withdraw

Retreat After Defeat
A Force Diminished
The Hornet leader sees that the invaded warriors do not answer calls from outside and fears they have all been killed. His force has lost half its number and is in danger of destruction.
Reason Over Revenge
Although the surviving Hornets want another fight, their leader orders a messenger to seek the dead and withdraw. The choice ends the immediate assault, but anger and ambition remain unresolved.
