Road Saints Motorcycle Club
The Brass VerdictThe Road Saints Motorcycle Club is a motorcycle club with a membership that included both full members and associates. Its clearest connection to the novel’s legal and investigative world is Dennis Wojciechowski, known as Cisco, whose association with the club preceded his work as a private investigator and helped establish his long acquaintance with Mickey Haller.
Membership and Affiliations
Cisco was considered an associate member, though he never wore the club’s colors. He kept clear of arrests while riding with the Road Saints, a record that later benefited him when he applied for a state private investigator’s license. His membership thus remained distinct from full affiliation, while still placing him within the club’s social orbit.
Haller and the Club
Haller had known Cisco for more than ten years through Cisco’s association with the Road Saints. For several of those years, Haller served as the club’s de facto house counsel, giving his connection to Cisco a history separate from their later investigative work. Cisco had also met Haller’s colleague Lorna Taylor while collecting payment for investigation work.
The Origin of Cisco’s Name
The club gave Wojciechowski the nickname Cisco Kid. There was already a member named Dennis, known as Dennis the Menace, and the club found Wojciechowski’s surname difficult to pronounce; his dark appearance and mustache supplied the other part of the nickname. The name endured after Cisco’s long hair was gone and his mustache had been trimmed and begun to gray. Although he was Polish and came from Milwaukee’s south side, the club name stuck with him, as did his preference for classic Harleys built in his hometown.
