Adriane's death
The Cabin at the End of the WorldAdriane's death is conveyed through aftermath and retrospective reference rather than a described death scene. It marks a point after which Eric says he sensed a presence in the cabin, while Adriane's body remains physically present as Sabrina struggles to get out onto the deck.
Retrospective Reference
Eric places the presence he sensed after both Adriane and Wen had died. He describes the room's space as seeming displaced and says that something appeared in the circle around Redmond before the group began striking him. Eric had tried to explain the sight as a flash of light, or as a hallucination brought on by concussion and stress, but says the figure seemed to look at him. His account makes Adriane's death part of the sequence that precedes this disturbing experience, without specifying how she died.
The Body in the Cabin
In a later scene, Sabrina crosses from the kitchen toward the common room and deck while Adriane's body lies supine in her path. Sabrina fumbles with the screen slider, which will not stay in its track; when Andrew tells her to remove it and throw it outside, she carries the screen door onto the deck and stashes it between the picnic table and the cabin wall. Adriane's death is thus present in the scene as an immediate physical fact, even as the living characters focus on getting through the doorway and managing the cabin's tense surroundings.
Aftermath and Reported Presence
Eric says the figure was around after Adriane and Wen died, and that he shut the cabin's front door to keep it outside. He has not seen it again, but believes it will soon return. The sequence ties Adriane's death to the group's increasingly uncanny experience without establishing that the presence is objectively real or that her death caused it. The cabin's doors and thresholds become part of Eric's response: after sensing the figure, he tries to keep it out.
