Rhiannon
The CageRhiannon is an independent clothing shop in The Bridges that becomes a source of evidence in the investigation into the Briggs twins’ disappearance. A report that the twins had admired clothes there leads Gary Baxter to discover that two tops were missing, turning an ordinary shopping destination into a possible link in the case.
Setting and stock
The medium-sized shop is bright, with music playing among racks of clothes and shoes and a stand of costume jewellery. Its independent status distinguishes it from the chain stores that predominate in shopping centres. The twins had bought stretchy bracelets there, and one had also liked a dress, details that gave the police a reason to ask about the shop.
The investigation
Gary Baxter visits with tags recovered during the inquiry and asks the owner, Rhiannon Ross, what garments they came from. She identifies the tags as belonging to short tops with long sleeves and scoop necks. She explains that two such tops were stolen the previous day; while tidying after closing, she had found their empty hangers. She had not reported the theft because she did not know who was responsible and saw little point in contacting the police.
Asked whether she remembered selling bracelets to two identical twins, Ross confirms that they came into the shop regularly. Her answer establishes familiarity with them, but does not establish that they stole the tops: the possible connection remains an investigative question rather than a proven conclusion.
Role in the case
Rhiannon links the twins’ ordinary shopping habits to a specific, recent theft. The tags and empty hangers make the shop’s stock a tangible lead, while the owner’s recollection places the twins in a location the police can investigate. The scene thus shifts the inquiry from a general account of what the twins liked toward a checkable detail, without resolving who took the garments or why.
