Allerød
The Hanging GirlAllerød is the setting for part of the urgent search for Hardy Henningsen after he disappears in his electric wheelchair. Seen from Carl Mørck’s moving car and from a parking lot beside woodland, the town becomes a landscape of anxious looking rather than a place of refuge or discovery.
Setting and Search
As Carl drives, the windscreen wipers sweep back and forth and Allerød passes outside. The search has already spread across the area around the house: Morten, flushed and tearful after looking in the pouring rain, had told Carl that he and Mika had searched everywhere within a kilometre and a half. Hardy was still missing.
The Woodland at Tokkekøbvej
Carl stops in a parking lot at the bottom of Tokkekøbvej and looks toward the woodland. The setting offers no obvious lead; he recognizes that the search may be impossible if Hardy does not want to be found. Carl calls Morten to ask whether anything has changed, leaving Allerød marked by uncertainty rather than resolution.
