A Cautious Departure

Away from Imperial Center A False Identity I-Five uses Tuden Sal’s voice to obtain clearance for the Far Ranger. Jax avoids using the Force to influence the dispatcher, wary that even a small act might reveal their movements. Uneasy Hope The crew is moving Yimmon toward Dantooine because Imperial attacks have made Coruscant unsafe. Jax remains convinced Vader may have survived their previous encounter.

The Forest Interlude

A Moment of Green A Different World On Toprawa, Jax and Yimmon pause among towering trees. The living forest offers a contrast to Coruscant’s crowded artificial world and gives Jax a new way to sense the Force. A Fleeting Shadow Jax detects an unfamiliar disturbance but dismisses it. The stop also gives Aren a chance to offer the crew a safer home among the Rangers, an invitation Jax cannot yet accept.

The Sudden Interception

Pulled from Hyperspace The Enemy Arrives Jax feels Vader through the Force and rushes to the bridge. The Far Ranger is abruptly forced into normal space, where Imperial ships form a closing ring around it. A Desperate Course Jax orders the crew toward the dangerous passage between the Twins, hoping stellar turbulence will hide their escape. The maneuver is risky, but the surrounding fleet leaves few alternatives.

Laranth’s Last Shot

A Final Act of Defiance Powerless but Fighting The stasis field and tractor beam disable the ship. Laranth refuses to leave her weapon station before firing the damaged cannon into Vader’s vessel. A Fatal Backlash The blast destroys the weapon system and fatally injures Laranth. Her sacrifice disrupts the Imperial grip long enough for the others to move, but it cannot prevent Vader from taking Yimmon.

The Escape Pod

Leaving the Wreck A Painful Departure Jax must leave Laranth’s body behind as the Far Ranger drifts toward the deadly stellar stream. He retrieves her tree, while Den carries I-Five’s damaged head. What Remains The survivors escape in a pod and are recovered by the Rangers. Their ship, leader, and companion are gone, but their survival keeps the rescue possible.
