Bothawui
The Last JediBothawui is a population center in the Both system, positioned beyond the Fervse’dra asteroid belt from the barren world of Taboth. In the search for Kantaros Station, the planet becomes a practical waypoint: Jax Pavan’s group lands there to refuel and uses its data systems to try to locate the station, but finds neither its transponder code nor its position in the asteroid field.
Setting and Position
The Fervse’dra asteroid belt lies where Both’s original third planet once orbited, forming a formidable barrier between Taboth and Bothawui. Its presence shapes the route through the system: the asteroid field is not simply a landmark but an obstacle that makes the hidden station difficult to find, approach, and leave quickly.
The search party approaches from the system’s outskirts, using the gravity shadows of the outer worlds before entering commercial traffic from behind the purple gas giant Golm. Bothawui is their point of planetfall before they turn toward the ring of asteroids.
Imperial Context
Bothawui is connected to the search because Darth Vader’s message ahead had been directed to the Both system, although neither Vader nor his forces had landed on any planet there. The reported extraordinary activity was instead around Kantaros Station, an ex-Republic military depot and medical facility that still had a civilian population and was now being used by the Empire as a repository for high-level prisoners of war.
That distinction makes the planet an informative but inconclusive stop. The Empire’s presence in the system does not reveal a visible deployment on Bothawui; the critical activity lies out among the asteroids, where Kantaros Station is concealed.
The Search from Bothawui
After landing, the group takes on fuel and turns I-Five loose in the Bothan Space Authority’s data banks. The search produces no transponder code for Kantaros Station and no indication of its position in the Fervse’dra field. The missing information leaves the ship without the beacon-based guidance available to Black Sun runners, who were brought in by the station on an as-needed basis.
Bothawui therefore marks a transition rather than a solution. Once the database search fails, the group heads away from the planet toward the asteroid ring, relying instead on the prospect that the station’s energy signature can be detected by the ship’s sensors.
