Dantooine
The Last JediDantooine became the intended destination for the resistance leadership’s relocation from Coruscant, offering a prospective base from which Thi Xon Yimmon could organize opposition to the Empire. The move was agreed to reluctantly, and Jax Pavan’s later decision not to go there underscores the difference between a long-term strategic plan and the urgent task of recovering Yimmon.
A Contested Relocation
The decision to move the resistance leader from Coruscant was almost unanimous, but Yimmon himself was the sole dissenter. Only after considerable persuasion did he agree that relocating the group’s base of operations to Dantooine was the wisest course. The account frames the choice as a response to mounting Imperial pressure: leaving the center of Imperial power would give the resistance more room to organize, though the move was not initially Yimmon’s preference.
A Wider Resistance Strategy
Dantooine was part of a broader effort to sustain resistance beyond Coruscant. Yimmon’s new headquarters was expected to give him greater freedom to organize a resistance worthy of the name, while Jax saw the move as creating more opportunities to connect with other resistance cells, including the one on Toprawa. The plan thus linked the choice of a base to a wider network of opposition, rather than treating relocation as an end in itself.
The group’s travel strategy also relied on appearing ordinary. A freighter could make regular port calls without drawing the attention that a ship openly carrying subversives might attract. The proposed route took the Far Ranger along the Hydian Way, with a stop at Bandomeer to contact a nascent resistance cell, followed by Botajef, Celanon, Feriae Junction, and Toprawa. This itinerary describes the resistance’s wider movements; it does not establish that the Far Ranger reached Dantooine.
Jax’s Decision and the Unfulfilled Destination
After Yimmon was captured, Aren Folee asked Jax whether he would continue to Dantooine. Jax refused the immediate detour: there was no reason to go there now, he said, because the group needed to return to Coruscant, regroup, and work out how to get Yimmon back. Dantooine therefore remains an intended headquarters rather than the destination of Jax’s next move. The contrast makes the location’s role strategic and provisional: the resistance’s plans pointed outward toward a safer base, but the loss of its leader redirected Jax toward an urgent rescue.
