Fabris

The Last Jedi

Fabris is an Arkanian lieutenant serving the new Black Sun Vigo, Prince Xizor, and an information broker whose agreement with Jax Pavan helps turn the search for Darth Vader into a transaction. His position rests on a striking contradiction: he belongs to a criminal network flourishing amid Mandalore’s political uncertainty, yet keeps a notably low profile in Keldabe. When Jax comes looking for Vader, Fabris provides information in return for pyronium—and, with Xizor’s approval, discloses the movements of Vader’s forces through Mandalorian space.

Identity and Position

Fabris is Tuden Sal’s contact and a lieutenant of Prince Xizor, the Falleen Vigo who becomes the face of Black Sun’s expansion into the power vacuum on Mandalore. The planet’s recent history has left its politics unsettled: the Shadow Collective’s wartime activities overwhelmed the New Mandalorians, Satine’s government fell, and Death Watch rose in violent opposition to the criminal groups, including Black Sun and Hutt organizations. After the initial hostilities, a puppet Prime Minister was installed and the situation quieted, but the Shadow Collective’s dissolution left room for Xizor’s organization to extend its influence. Fabris lives within that shifting order, in Keldabe, the old Mandalorian capital.

His discretion is unusual even within Black Sun. Arkanians generally consider themselves the apex of evolution, so Fabris’s low profile stands out both among his own people and in the organization he serves. The contrast makes his restraint part of his defining presence: he is a well-placed operative who does not advertise his importance. His eventual meetings with Jax take place in a cantina, but Fabris’s real working space is hidden behind a secret panel beneath a staircase, a concealed office consistent with the quiet existence he maintains.

Appearance and First Contact

Fabris has pale, almost translucent skin, high cheekbones, and white hair that falls over his shoulders. Unlike most Arkanians, whose eyes are pure white, his eyes are black; they have either been altered or are lenses. That difference is noted without explanation, leaving the precise cause uncertain. His appearance marks him as Arkanian, while the unusual eyes distinguish him from the norm among his species.

Jax finds his way to Fabris by asking in Keldabe for an Arkanian named Tyno Fabris who might do business. When they are brought together in the cantina, Fabris is protected by four security personnel: two human men, a Devaronian, and a Zabrak woman. They pose as ordinary patrons around a hearth, but their positions give them the feel of a guard detail. Fabris himself sits in the hearth alcove sipping caf. The guarded setting makes clear that access to him is managed, even when his own manner is controlled and unshowy.

Bargain with Jax Pavan

Jax approaches Fabris with a specific lead. He says he intercepted a distress call from a resistance ship pursued by Darth Vader. From the garbled messages, Jax believes Vader captured a high-level resistance operative, destroyed the vessel and everyone aboard, and sent the captive in a convoy to Mandalore. Jax also believes the Imperial forces did not remain there long. Fabris confirms that they did not, giving Jax an important acknowledgment without yet supplying the route or destination he needs.

The exchange develops into a bargain rather than an act of trust. Jax offers pyronium in return for Vader’s whereabouts, and Fabris accepts the proposed terms. The jewel gives Jax something concrete with which to secure the information; Fabris, in turn, agrees to contact him once he has found something. Jax says he is staying aboard the Corsair, giving Fabris a way to reach him. Their arrangement is transactional, focused on obtaining intelligence rather than establishing an alliance.

Jax keeps the dealings separate from his companions. When the meeting moves to Fabris’s hidden office, Den Dhur and I-Five have wanted to accompany him, but Jax decides that arriving as a group would raise their profile. He has Tlinetha escort him alone to meet the Boss, accepting that Den may be suspicious of his dealings with a Black Sun lieutenant. Fabris thus becomes the point of contact for a mission Jax deliberately pursues independently, not a partner publicly approached by the whole team.

Intelligence and Narrative Role

Prince Xizor learns that Jax is present and hears the report that the rumors of his death are exaggerated. Rather than ordering Fabris to break the bargain or use Jax’s return against him, Xizor tells Fabris to honor their agreement and get Jax what he wants. This intervention establishes that Fabris’s role remains under the Vigo’s authority, while showing that Xizor approves the exchange. Fabris is not acting as an independent power: his access to Black Sun’s information and his dealings with Jax operate within a larger chain of command.

Fabris later gives Jax a detailed account of three Imperial movements through Mandalorian space. The first had occurred close to a month earlier, when Imperial forces made landfall on Mandalore and Concordia. Roughly two weeks before the report, a second group of three ships passed through without stopping: they emerged from hyperspace at the system’s fringes, adjusted course, and departed. The third movement consisted of only two ships, also traveling in haste. One sent coded messages, one to Imperial Center and another to a destination in Bothan space. Fabris infers that the Bothan-space destination was where the ships were headed, while carefully distinguishing that inference from what the messages directly establish.

The account identifies the ship that sent the messages as the Lambda-class long-range shuttle Questor. Fabris says he has good authority for that identification and that Darth Vader himself was aboard. His intelligence transforms Jax’s broad suspicion that Vader’s forces passed through Mandalorian space into a sequence of movements, dates, stops, and a likely destination. Fabris’s contribution is consequential because it narrows the pursuit without pretending that every part of the route is known: the destination in Bothan space is an informed assumption, while the ship’s identity and Vader’s presence are presented as confirmed details. As a character, he functions at the boundary between criminal influence and resistance intelligence, where discretion, guarded access, and a carefully priced fact can redirect a pursuit.
