Purging Darth Ramage's Knowledge from Jax Pavan's Mind

The Last Jedi

Purging Darth Ramage's Knowledge from Jax Pavan's Mind is the act of removing the Sith’s dangerous knowledge from Jax after his return to Dathomir. It fulfills a promise made before Jax’s attempt to rescue his friend, and gives concrete form to his effort to prevent the knowledge from being misused by either Darth Vader or himself. The procedure leaves his memory of events intact, but changes his access to the ideas and influence associated with Darth Ramage.

The Bargain on Dathomir

Before attempting the rescue, Jax asked the Singing Mountain Clan for two favors. First, he wanted to leave the Sith Holocron in the Clan’s care, trusting that the women would neither use it for ill nor let it fall to the dark side. His concern was not abstract: he knew what Darth Vader might do with the knowledge it contained, while admitting that he did not yet know what he himself might do with it.

Jax’s second request was conditional on his survival. If he returned from trying to rescue his friend, he wanted the Clan to purge the knowledge from his mind utterly, so that neither Vader nor Jax could misuse it. Augwynne Djo accepted the request. The condition made the proposed purge part of the risk Jax was already undertaking: he asked the Clan to guard the source and, if he came back, to remove its influence from him.

The Return and the Purge

After the rescue, Jax returned to Dathomir as promised. The stop was brief, long enough for Augwynne Djo to keep her word and relieve him of Darth Ramage’s dark knowledge. The narrative presents the act as risky because Jax entrusts the restoration of some balance to his mind to a Dathomiri Witch; that trust is itself described as a step back into the light.

The purge does not erase Jax’s recollection of Kantaros Station. Aboard the Laranth/Corsair as preparations for liftoff continue, he probes his memory and finds the events clear and crystalline. What has become inaccessible is how he influenced them: that part of the memory is a blank, a fuzzy hollow. The distinction preserves the record of what happened while removing Jax’s grasp of his own role in shaping it.

What Remained

Jax can no longer sense time currents, although he still remembers the concept that they exist. The rest of Ramage’s ideas have faded to near-transparency. The result is therefore not presented as the disappearance of every trace: the events remain, and a thin conceptual residue survives, but the power and substance of Ramage’s knowledge have largely receded.

Sacha Swiftbird asks whether Jax is clear and whether all the dark material is gone. Jax’s answer narrows the reassurance to the dark knowledge Darth Ramage contributed. That qualification leaves a boundary around what the purge can be said to have accomplished. The scene closes not with a claim that Jax has become untouched by darkness, but with the specific relief of having Ramage’s contribution removed and the memory of the ordeal left behind.
