Tlinetha
The Last JediTlinetha is a Balosar intermediary whose antennaepalps, composure, and ability to read an unusual presence make her an important link between Jax Pavan and Tyno Fabris. In Keldabe she does more than direct Jax toward a powerful local figure: she assesses him, hints at the danger of their meeting, and later reports that the field surrounding him feels unlike anything artificial.
Identity and Appearance
Tlinetha is a Balosar woman nearly as tall as Jax, an unusual height for a people often described as small and frail. She is slender but not frail, with long hair braided over one shoulder and a hair ornament that only partly conceals her antennaepalps. A pale lavender crystal set in an upper front tooth echoes the color of her hair and eyes. The details give her a distinctive presence in the crowded Oyu’baat, where her voice cuts through the ambient noise with a combination of sharpness and velvet smoothness.
Her antennaepalps are not merely part of her appearance. Jax knows that they give Balosar a form of empathy, making Tlinetha potentially valuable as an observer or spy to a corporate, underworld, or Imperial power. That possibility makes his first wary response significant: he recognizes that she may be reading him even as she opens the conversation. The text does not identify her as an agent of any such organization, leaving her loyalties unsettled rather than assigning her a definite affiliation.
Meeting Jax in Keldabe
Jax is in the Oyu’baat looking for Tyno Fabris, an Arkanian he hopes to approach for business. Tlinetha notices that he is new to the establishment and asks what has brought him there. He explains that he knows Mandalore but is new to Keldabe, having usually landed on Concordia, where conditions have recently become unsettled. Her questions turn a casual approach at the bar into an assessment of what he wants and what he might be concealing.
When Jax names Tyno, Tlinetha distinguishes between merely wanting to find him and already knowing him. She confirms that Tyno is a force in the sector, then studies Jax with her antennaepalps attentive. Her response is wary: she suggests that she may have more reason to warn Tyno about Jax than to warn Jax about Tyno. Rather than treating the warning as a refusal, Jax offers aurodium and asks her to tell Tyno that a mutual acquaintance recommended him. Tlinetha accepts the payment, pockets it, and returns to the bar; by the time Jax looks up again, she has disappeared.
The exchange presents her as a gatekeeper whose help is neither automatic nor free. Jax gives her a concrete reason to carry his approach onward, while she retains control over whether and how to act. Her warning also establishes that she sees the meeting as potentially risky for both parties, though the available account does not explain the basis for her suspicion.
Access to Tyno and the Unusual Field
When Tlinetha returns, she does not speak to Jax; she catches his eye and beckons. He follows with his partly finished tankard, expecting that she may lead him upstairs, but she passes the staircase to the second-floor gallery. As they make their way toward the giant fireplace, Jax remarks on the lack of an obvious Imperial presence. Tlinetha maintains that absence, but Jax concludes that she is lying: if Darth Vader’s troops had come to Mandalore, he reasons, they would almost certainly have reached Keldabe, where business and intelligence converge.
The route ends at a scene whose appearance differs sharply from the room Jax had first entered. The earlier patrons have cleared away, replaced by four people who seem to be security despite not dressing like security. Three men—a pair of humans and a Devaronian—and a female Zabrak occupy separate positions around the hearth. Their arrangement protects Tyno, who sits in the alcove sipping caf. Tlinetha’s part in bringing Jax through the room places her within this controlled encounter, though the evidence does not specify whether she arranged the security or simply escorted him to the meeting.
Later, Tlinetha tells Tyno what she has sensed in Jax. She cannot quite identify it, but describes the air around him as charged and shivering. Tyno proposes that it might be a personal force shield; she rejects that explanation, distinguishing the resonance of artificial fields from what she recognizes as a natural one. She has felt something comparable only twice before in her life. Her report makes her unusual sensitivity consequential: she does not simply help locate Jax’s contact, but supplies Tyno with a perception that complicates the interpretation of Jax’s presence.
Tyno’s Message and Narrative Role
Tlinetha later appears aboard Jax’s ship and asks who Den Dhur is as he withdraws down the aft passage. Jax identifies him as crew and asks why she has come. She looks past Jax into his quarters and explains that Tyno sent her. This brief return confirms that her connection to Tyno persists beyond the meeting in the Oyu’baat, and that she can carry his business directly to Jax’s ship. The scene does not disclose the message or what follows from it, so her precise purpose remains open.
Across these appearances, Tlinetha occupies a carefully balanced position: she is a broker between Jax and Tyno, a possible observer whose loyalties are not fixed in the account, and a perceptive witness to something about Jax that ordinary security cannot explain. Her practical actions—accepting aurodium, guiding him through the crowded establishment, and later delivering Tyno’s message—are set against the uncertainty of her readings and motives. She helps move the plot forward while preserving the sense that, in Keldabe, information is traded and people are assessed before trust is offered.
