The Evening Meeting

A Scientist Waiting A Family Ritual Katherine arrives at her protected lab for the regular Sunday meeting with Peter. He is late, and new information about his secrets has already unsettled her. A Separate Mystery Her questions about Peter overlap with a message from a supposed physician. She does not know the visitor is drawing her toward danger.

A Trusted Visitor

Trust Manipulated The False Psychiatrist Mal’akh poses as Dr. Abaddon and persuades Katherine that Peter trusts him. Katherine invites him to the lab, believing she is helping resolve her brother’s crisis. A Costly Mistake Her generosity grants Mal’akh access to a secure facility. The deception exploits her loyalty to Peter and her willingness to treat a trusted professional as an ally.

Trish’s Disappearance

A Dangerous Detour The Specimen Tour Trish takes the visitor through the museum’s wet storage area before bringing him to Katherine’s laboratory. His interest in the exhibits hides his attention to security and access. A Murderous Reveal Mal’akh kills Trish and takes her key card. Katherine discovers that the person she trusted has turned the research facility into a crime scene.

Flight Through the Void

A Blind Escape The Pursuit Katherine finds herself trapped in the black storage space with Mal’akh. Without ordinary sight, she uses the carpet, walls, and sounds to orient herself. The Bay Door She locates a specimen-bay opening, slips outside, and uses the security lights to disorient her attacker. Her escape is improvised and physical, not a product of the laboratory protections she once relied upon.

Research Preserved

Survival After Loss Peter’s Reassurance Katherine survives blood loss and returns to her brother after the final confrontation. She learns that Peter had saved copies of her research despite the destruction of her laboratory. A Future Reopened Her immediate safety does not erase grief for Trish or the damage to her workspace. Yet the preserved data gives her a path to continue the scientific work that had defined her life.
