Easy Ice
The PeripheralEasy Ice is a deliberately unconvincing password belonging to Flynne Fisher, but its return in later conversations gives the throwaway phrase a second use: a private point of recognition connecting Flynne, Burton Fisher, and Tommy Constantine.
The password
When Flynne hands over her phone, Macon challenges the password as so poor that it barely qualifies as one. Flynne answers that she is an ordinary person, turning the exchange into a comic defense of its unremarkable simplicity. The phrase is therefore introduced as practical information, but the scene makes it memorable through the contrast between Macon’s criticism and Flynne’s matter-of-fact reply.
A phrase carried between conversations
Later, Burton repeats Easy Ice to Flynne. His delivery produces a brief physical response: Flynne sees him shiver in the moonlight, an effect she understands as haptic before it passes. The words have traveled beyond the phone-password exchange and become something Burton can say back to her, with a bodily reaction accompanying the recognition.
Recognition and contrast
When Tommy uses the phrase, Flynne asks who told him. He credits Burton and says it suits her; she dismisses its earlier use as just games. The exchange then turns toward the uncertain reality of the money, which Flynne says is real so far. Easy Ice thus links a casual shared phrase to a conversation where play and consequential events sit uneasily beside each other: its origin was a weak password, but its repetition marks familiarity amid circumstances Flynne describes as increasingly extraordinary.
