The Abandoned Child

The Abandoned Child
Power without family
Malthios remembers neither his parents’ faces nor receiving their care. Demon society values magical strength over kinship, and he survives alone by stealing food after they abandon him.
A first struggle to live
Despite hunger and neglect, something in him refuses to lie down and die. That stubborn survival becomes the foundation of the will that will later resist defeat and shape his place among demons.
His childhood reveals that the cruelty he later inflicts is not inevitable, but it is learned in a society where weakness invites exploitation and affection is scarce.
Fire in the Training Yard

Fire in the Training Yard
The first chosen allies
Malthios meets Kamil while struggling to read and finds an unexpected companion in the antlered Aym, who intervenes when older Novices attack him. Their friends join the fight rather than leaving Malthios to fend for himself.
Power redirected by loyalty
When Malthios sees Aym in danger, anger lets him embrace his mana instead of fearing it. He kills an attacker and discovers that fighting beside others can make the weak less helpless.
The encounter forms the emotional core of the Pentagram. Their friendship contradicts the demonic assumption that every relationship is merely a route to power.
Wings Bought in Blood

Wings Bought in Blood
Ascension through slaughter
Malthios and his four companions are told that becoming Demon Lords requires killing innocents. The massacre expands their mana and gives them wings, turning a brutal custom into a permanent mark on their bodies.
Doubt beneath triumph
Although the group celebrates surviving the transformation, Aym and Kamil question why killing is the only way demons are allowed to advance. Malthios insists that demons cannot change their nature, even as the challenge unsettles him.
The scene establishes the cost of the hierarchy: power comes with trauma, and those who gain it are pressured to defend the system that wounded them.
The Pentagram’s Last Battle

The Pentagram’s Last Battle
A Hero changes the mission
The Pentagram encounters the Hero while leading a demon battalion. Malthios orders a retreat, but the Hero’s power scatters their forces and leaves his closest companions exposed.
Survival becomes unbearable
Aym, Torq, Foras, and Kamil die as they protect one another and send Malthios away. He escapes alone, carrying grief that turns his friendship into a wound he cannot bear to revisit.
Their deaths give Malthios a reason to pursue vengeance, but the story shows that this reason is an interpretation he chooses to live by, not the only possible legacy of his friends.
A Crown Thrown Away

A Crown Thrown Away
A throne born of revenge
After punishing Naamah for exposing the Pentagram to the Hero, Malthios ascends to Demon King by killing demons of his own kind. He later rules through generals and conquest, but the remembered warmth of his friends gradually fades beneath violence.
A different use for power
In Theo’s body, Malthios learns to value meals, work, and ordinary companionship. Once Tyraz is defeated, he destroys the Demon Fortress and chooses to end organized demon rule rather than claim its crown again.
His decision cannot restore the lives he took or the friends he lost. It does, however, transform power from an excuse for domination into a means of preventing another generation from being shaped by war.
