Taken from the Battle

Taken from the Battle
A hostage chosen for leverage
Tyraz captures Theo while the party is surrounded by demon forces. He knows that Luc’s attachment makes the healer a useful instrument against the Hero.
Theo’s first attempt to escape
Theo refuses to surrender quietly and wounds Tyraz with a hidden knife, but the Demon Lord uses shadow magic to recapture him. His attempt costs him his remaining weapons, not his defiance.
The capture turns the battle’s strategic aim into an assault on Theo’s control over his own body. Tyraz wants to make him a message for Luc as much as a prisoner.
The Dungeon’s Threat

The Dungeon’s Threat
Torture promised as policy
Tyraz tells Theo that he intends to use him as a plaything and to torture him until his healing magic fails. He presents captivity as a right granted by victory.
A voice prevents isolation
Malthios stays with Theo in their shared mind, reviewing the fortress and reminding him of the people he loves. Even when he cannot take control without Theo’s decision, he offers a connection the captor cannot easily remove.
The threat is designed to make Theo believe that no one can reach him. Malthios’s presence does not erase the danger, but it keeps the prisoner from being alone with Tyraz’s version of reality.
A Name Used as Defiance

A Name Used as Defiance
Theo rejects the false king
Tyraz boasts that he is the new Demon King and dismisses the possibility that Malthios has survived. Theo counters that there is only one true Demon King and calls Tyraz an imitator unable to ascend.
Pain fails to define him
Tyraz strikes and cuts Theo, but the healer’s magic closes the wounds. Malthios keeps speaking through the ordeal, listing people and memories to help Theo maintain a sense of self.
Theo’s resistance depends on language and relationships as well as healing. He refuses to accept the name Tyraz gives him, even while his body is restrained and exposed to violence.
The Almost-Suffocation

The Almost-Suffocation
A blow answered with force
Theo kicks Tyraz when the Demon Lord taunts him, briefly breaking the shadow hold. Tyraz responds by tightening a shadow around Theo’s throat and threatening to destroy him completely.
The attack interrupted
A messenger arrives with news that the party has entered the fortress. Tyraz leaves Theo alive because he intends to use the prisoner in front of Luc.
The interruption prevents immediate death but makes the coming confrontation more dangerous. Theo’s resistance has unsettled Tyraz, while the news of the party’s arrival turns captivity into a final test of whether rescue can come in time.
Standing Before the Hero

Standing Before the Hero
Tyraz makes the captivity public
Tyraz brings Theo into the courtyard with his throat restrained and uses him to provoke Luc. He claims that Theo’s suffering has exposed the Hero’s weakness.
The prisoner becomes a protector
Theo urges Luc not to fight recklessly, but cannot stop him from challenging Tyraz. When Luc falls, Theo breaks the barrier and places himself between the Hero and the Demon Lord, trusting Malthios to take control.
The scene reverses Tyraz’s intended image of Theo as a helpless hostage. The prisoner acts to save Luc, and the former Demon King answers that choice by defeating the captor.
