Callum and Elise's Sibling Relationship

The Secret Vampire

Callum and Elise’s sibling relationship joins an unconventional family origin to a later, reciprocal bond of warning and protection. Callum enters the royal family as Vlad and Carmilla’s adopted son, while Elise is the daughter born to the couple that same night; when Samara’s conspiracy threatens their family, Elise acts to alert Callum and he responds decisively when he discovers her imprisoned.

Family Formation and Royal Status

Callum’s place in the family is established under extraordinary circumstances. After an unknown young man awakens in the castle and learns from Vlad that he is dead, Carmilla goes into labor. She delivers a daughter but dies in the aftermath. Vlad then declares that the family has a little princess and a prince, and gives the young man the name Callum. The scene places Callum and the newborn girl together as the next generation of the royal household: she is Vlad and Carmilla’s daughter, while he is proclaimed their son and legacy. Their relationship is therefore presented as siblinghood within the family, rather than as shared biological parentage.

That framing is reinforced by Callum’s place in the household after his naming. Carmilla addresses him as her son and takes responsibility for his feeding, while Vlad treats him as his own heir. Elise, meanwhile, is identified as Vlad’s daughter and later calls Callum her brother. The two occupy different positions in the family’s origin story, but the household recognizes both as its children.

A Household Under Threat

The siblings’ family life is shaped by dangers within the castle as well as beyond it. Carmilla’s death becomes central to Samara’s later schemes: Samara uses magic to manipulate Vlad by taking Carmilla’s form and urging him to kill Celeste. Her plan also turns the castle into a place of concealment. Elise notices Samara behaving strangely, sees a bottle of blue liquid, and uses a mind-link to warn Callum that Samara is acting suspiciously and intends to marry their father.

Elise’s warning shows that she is not merely a passive member of the threatened household. She observes evidence for herself and reaches out to Callum while he is away searching for Celeste. The siblings’ mind-link makes that warning possible across distance, and Callum immediately treats it as serious enough to require his attention. Their communication connects two simultaneous dangers: Celeste is being held captive, while Samara is preparing to bind Vlad to her through deception.

Elise’s Imprisonment and Callum’s Response

Callum’s concern for Elise becomes unmistakable when he returns to the castle with Darren to investigate what Samara is hiding. Darren finds a locked room in the dungeons and discovers Elise crying inside. She asks whether he has come to hurt her, then contacts Callum through their mind-link. Callum rushes downstairs; Elise embraces him and asks him to save her. He assures her that she is safe and reacts with anger when he learns she has been locked away, declaring his intention to destroy Samara.

The discovery gives the siblings’ relationship a direct, protective force. Elise had already helped Callum by warning him about Samara; when she is made a captive, Callum answers her appeal himself. His reaction is not presented as abstract loyalty to the royal household: it is focused on his sister’s safety and on the person who confined her.

Exposure and the Meaning of Their Bond

The crisis ends when Samara’s crimes are exposed. Celeste reveals that Samara murdered Carmilla and her own mother, and Samara’s confession also confirms that she manipulated Damien by impersonating Hannah. Celeste then traps Samara in a magical hourglass, and Vlad carries her to the dungeon and imprisons her. Against the earlier image of Elise crying behind a locked door, the siblings’ positions have reversed: Samara, who had confined Elise, is now the prisoner.

Callum and Elise’s bond is thus established through both family recognition and action. The story first places them side by side as prince and princess in a newly formed royal family; later, Elise’s warning and Callum’s rescue make that status personal. Their siblinghood persists through the family’s grief and Samara’s deception, and becomes most visible when each sibling’s safety depends on the other’s trust and intervention.
