Cosmic Correspondence

Family Across the Veil A Strange Kinship Maggie and Kelly communicate through a cosmic message board despite centuries of antagonism. Their relationship is familial without biological birth or ordinary domestic history. Opposed Natures Maggie values order, knowledge, and obligation; Kelly values appetite, surprise, and impulse. Their differences make every exchange both hostile and familiar. The Invitation Maggie mentions the cruise during a return to her native dimension. Her pride in the trip unintentionally gives Kelly a route into Joe's life.

The Waffles Pact

Desire Bargained Predatory Intent Kelly arrives interested in consuming Joe's psyche or desire. Her flirtation is playful to her but genuinely threatening to the human. Maggie's Defense Maggie cannot simply overpower an equal Class-3, so she uses negotiation. Blueberry waffles become the price of stopping the seduction attempt. A Cosmic Promise The pact binds Kelly more strongly than a human promise would. Food becomes the language through which rivalry is temporarily stabilized.

A Final Reversal

Rivalry Reframed Kelly's Intervention Joe lures Kelly to the ritual with promises of virgins, expecting her to serve as protection against the Agency. She intervenes for amusement rather than loyalty. The Psychic Blow Sarah Johanson defeats Kelly's manifestation long enough for the ritual to proceed. Kelly's shock at Maggie's return is greater than her anger at being attacked. Shared Impossibility Maggie's rise to Class-4 destabilizes Kelly's assumptions about cosmic order. Their rivalry continues, but the younger entity now occupies a new position that even the Devourer cannot casually dominate.
