A Look Across the Room

A Look Across the Room Quiet Attraction Sammy watches Dean from across Longbottoms, sitting straighter when she sees him and lowering her gaze when Elena notices. Her feelings are visible even before she admits them. Self-Doubt Sammy believes Dean would not choose someone like her because her family has little money. Elena challenges that assumption, arguing that worth is not determined by wealth.

The Invitation

The Invitation A Call From Dean Dean asks Sammy out, prompting the friends to celebrate and help her choose an outfit. The invitation converts her private hope into a real possibility. Encouragement From Friends Elena supports the date but chooses not to join the couple and Becky and George. Sammy accepts the attention and prepares to meet Dean without turning her friends' excitement into pressure.

The First Kiss

The First Kiss A Romantic Evening Sammy tells Elena that Dean kissed her and describes the date with a dreamy excitement. Her earlier belief that she was too poor to attract him begins to lose its hold. Confidence Renewed She returns with a new memory that contradicts her self-doubt. The romance is only beginning, but it offers Sammy a reason to reconsider the assumptions she makes about herself.
