Amarantha’s curse on Tamlin and the Spring Court
A Court of Thorns and RosesAmarantha’s curse on Tamlin and the Spring Court is the mechanism that turns a personal humiliation into a forty-nine-year regime of enslavement. It deprives Tamlin of most of his power, conceals the truth behind masks and magical silence, and makes freedom depend on an apparently impossible transformation: a human who hates faeries must kill one of Tamlin’s sentinels, enter his court, look beyond the mask, fall in love with him, and confess that love sincerely before the deadline ends. The curse therefore governs bodies, speech, identity, and political time at once; it is both a magical condition and a system of coercive rule imposed by Amarantha.
