Hôpital Saint-Roch

Impure Blood

Hôpital Saint-Roch is the hospital designated to receive Astrid after she is found conscious but apparently paralysed. In the rescue sequence, it becomes the urgent destination around which the police and medical teams coordinate, even though its lack of a helipad complicates the transfer.

The Difficult Route to the Hospital

When help is called for Astrid, Darac tells her that she will be flown to Hôpital Saint-Roch. The plan immediately raises a practical concern: the hospital has no helipad, so standard procedure would require the helicopter to land at the old port and an ambulance to complete the journey. To those present, that detour seems likely to take too long.

Emergency Coordination

The helicopter lands on the promenade, and its crew runs towards the fallen statue. Before it has even touched down, Darac has called Deanna and arranged for her to speak directly with the flight crew. He then contacts the hospital’s emergency department. A neighbour answers, allowing him to pass on the essential information without delay or identity checks; she says they are acting on it.

Darac relays Deanna’s instruction that neostigmine be administered immediately, and tells the hospital that Deanna will arrive as soon as she can. The exchange makes Hôpital Saint-Roch more than a destination: it is the receiving point for a time-critical attempt to treat Astrid, with the medical advice and the transport arrangements linked by phone.

The Stakes of Arrival

The hospital’s prospects for Astrid remain uncertain. Asked about her chances, Darac reports that too many factors are unknown, but that there is a chance if she is still conscious when she arrives. The qualification leaves the rescue suspended between hope and danger: the flight has brought help within reach, but Astrid’s condition and the time required to get her through the hospital doors still matter.
