Recruiting an Informant

Recruiting an Informant Janis’s Proposal Janis Ian asks Cady Heron to spy on Regina George and bring back information. Cady knows the request is not a real scientific experiment, but agrees anyway. A Personal Motive Janis frames the plan as resistance to cruelty, while her own history with Regina remains unresolved. That mix of justice and revenge gives the operation its emotional charge.

The Betrayal at Halloween

The Betrayal at Halloween Regina’s Intervention Regina George sees Aaron Samuels responding warmly to Cady Heron and invents stories to discourage him. She then kisses him, undermining Cady’s hopes and her own stated friendliness. A New Target Cady runs from the party and tells Janis Ian what happened. Janis recasts the hurt as evidence that Regina must be stopped, drawing Cady deeper into the revenge plan.

A List of Vulnerabilities

A List of Vulnerabilities The Strategy Janis Ian identifies Regina George’s boyfriend, appearance, and loyal followers as the sources of her power. The group plans to weaken each one. Moral Drift Cady Heron accepts the assignment while still feeling sympathy and attraction toward Regina’s world. The plan makes deception seem useful, even as it begins changing Cady herself.

Regina’s Public Reversal

Regina’s Public Reversal Lost Authority The Kalteen bars and altered scale contribute to Regina’s weight gain. Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith eventually enforce the same lunch rules Regina had imposed on others. The Crowd Turns Regina leaves the table and is mocked in the cafeteria. Janis celebrates the result, while Cady recognizes the humiliation as more complicated than a clean victory.

Confession and Consequence

Confession and Consequence The Plan Exposed Janis Ian publicly explains how she and Cady Heron targeted Regina George. The confession gives Regina grounds to expose the broader history of their cruelty. Costs of Revenge The scheme’s public unraveling turns private retaliation into a schoolwide crisis. Cady’s role is no longer hidden, and the friendship that sustained the operation has fractured.
