Sun-Blasts
VenomSun-Blasts are a dragon form linked in the narrative to the transition between dragon and human forms and to the approach of Ascending. The few references place that transformation in both personal development and loss: it is something a young dragon may be nearing, but also part of what a bereaved mother does not know about her missing child.
Form and Ascending
Elena, at seventeen, is told that she is growing closer to her Ascending. She feels no different and reports no paranormal changes, apart from a dream in which she became a Sun-Blast and killed Brian. The distinction matters: the scene establishes her expectation of a coming transformation, not that she has Ascended or actually taken this form.
Constance's Missing Child
Constance's daughter was a three-year-old Sun-Blast when the Creepers took the small village where Constance lived, near the border of Etan. Constance was away at a conference in Elm and lost both her husband and child in the disaster. Because she does not know what her daughter's human form looks like, she cannot identify that form if the child is still alive. The account leaves the child's fate unresolved; the village's proximity to the border leads another character to doubt that it survived, while the remains of Etan are described as unreachable.
A Form in Dream and Memory
The references give the Sun-Blast form two sharply different contexts. In Elena's dream it is bound to a frightening imagined act, while Constance's missing daughter makes the question of human form an intimate uncertainty with potentially life-changing consequences. Together, these details connect transformation not only with approaching maturity but also with the difficulty of recognizing and recovering someone lost.
