The Queen's Croquet-Ground

Alice sees three gardeners (Two, Five, and Seven) painting white roses red, fearing the Queen's wrath. The Queen of Hearts arrives with a procession of cards, soldiers, courtiers, and royal children. The Queen is furious and orders the gardeners' heads off, but Alice hides them in a flower-pot. The Queen invites Alice to play croquet, using flamingos as mallets and hedgehogs as balls, with soldiers doubled up as arches. The game is chaotic, with players playing out of turn and the Queen constantly ordering beheadings. Alice becomes uneasy and seeks escape.
