Church's Return

A Warning Ignored Changed Cat Church returns from the dead but is not the same. He is clumsy, smells, and has a vacant look. He kills birds and mice. Jud's Warning Jud tells Louis that sometimes dead is better. He warns that the place corrupts what it brings back. Lesson Unheeded Louis dismisses the changes in Church. He focuses on the fact that the cat is alive. He does not learn the lesson.

Gage's Return

The Ultimate Horror A Monster Gage returns as a malevolent entity. He kills Jud and Rachel. He is not the son Louis loved. Louis's Realization Louis understands that he has made a terrible mistake. He is forced to kill Gage again. The lesson is learned too late. Cycle Continues Despite the horror, Louis takes Rachel's body to the burying ground. He has not fully learned. The cycle of tampering with death continues.
