Hanuman brings the healing mountain to save the monkey army

Ramayana

Hanuman’s search for healing herbs becomes an act of rescue when he returns carrying the mountain itself. The episode turns a command to save the suffering Vánars into a demonstration of strength and resourcefulness: when the needed plants evade him, he brings their whole mountain back to the army.

The Command to Save the Vánars

A wounded chieftain has lived anew, cheered by the face he longed to see. The call then turns outward to the Vánars: Hanuman is urged to go forth and save them in their distress, with the appeal resting on a strength said to be beyond anyone else’s.

The Mountain and Its Hidden Herbs

The search leads to a mountain described in relation to Mount Kailasa and Mount Rishabh. When Hanuman reaches for the plants he seeks, they hide from his sight. Unable to seize the healing herbs directly, he addresses the hill in anger, threatening vengeance if it will show no pity.

Return with the Mountain

Hanuman retraces his swift course over hill, plain, and water, carrying his burden through the air. He lays it among the Vánars, and the passage invokes the delightful scent of the wondrous herbs. The episode’s decisive action is not a successful gathering of individual plants, but the delivery of the mountain that bears them.
