Jorge Zahar Editor

Jorge Zahar Editor is the publishing company identified in the edition’s 2010 copyright notice and Rio de Janeiro contact information. The publication details distinguish the modern publisher from the older source credited for the story.

Publisher and Edition

The book states that copyright for the edition belongs to Jorge Zahar Editor Ltda. in 2010. This identifies the company in its publishing capacity and ties it specifically to the edition, rather than to the story’s original collection.

Address and Contact Details

The edition gives Jorge Zahar Editor’s address as Rua Marquês de S. Vicente 99, first floor, Rio de Janeiro, postal code 22451-041. The accompanying contact information lists a telephone number, fax number, and the email address editora@zahar.com.br, presenting the publisher as a locally identifiable organization with direct contact channels.

Relationship to the Story’s Source

The source note attributes “Rapunzel” to J. and W. Grimm’s Kinder- und Hausmärchen, seventh edition, published in Berlin by Dietrich in 1857, and records an 1812 first edition. Jorge Zahar Editor is therefore the publisher of the 2010 edition represented here, while the cited Grimm volume is the earlier source for the tale.
