SYLO (anti-invasion organization)

Strike

SYLO (anti-invasion organization) is credited with stopping the Retro invasion and preserving society, but its success is not a restoration of what the invasion destroyed. In Olivia’s account of the outcome, SYLO achieved its objective while the people of the twenty-first century still faced the task of rebuilding from what remained.

Mission and Result

Olivia describes stopping the invasion and preserving society as precisely what SYLO set out to accomplish. Her assessment defines the organization by its defensive objective and treats the survival of society, rather than a return to an untouched past, as the measure of success.

Allies and the Cost of Victory

The exchange also qualifies any account of SYLO’s achievement as a solitary effort. Tori Sleeper points out that the Sounders helped, and Kent Berringer adds that his own group contributed as well. Olivia’s explanation makes clear that the victory has limits: people in the twenty-first century must still live with the consequences of what the Retros did and rebuild from the remnants. SYLO stopped the invasion, but that success did not reverse the deaths and destruction already suffered.
