George

Venom

George enters the story through his reunion with Becky: when Lucille, Elena, and Sammy find them, Becky has her legs wrapped around his waist and kisses him before introducing him to her mother. His return brings Becky’s private affection into view of her friends and family, and his later ease among them makes him part of their shared social life.

Introduction and Reunion

When the group reaches Becky, she is embracing George closely. She climbs down, kisses him again, and draws him over to introduce him to Lucille, presenting her mother with a broad grin. The greeting establishes George as someone Becky is openly and happily attached to, rather than a stranger she is merely meeting in company.

George responds warmly to the others. He greets Elena and hugs Sammy in a friendly way; Lucille also pays for the group’s drinks before they leave the coffee shop together. The encounter quickly shifts from Becky’s intimate reunion to a shared departure, placing George within the circle around her.

Return from Acapulco

Becky asks where George’s bags are, and he explains that his parents took them. He apologizes that they did not stay, adding that his sister had just acquired her human form and tired quickly. Lucille accepts the explanation, and the group continues to the parking lot.

As they walk, George immediately begins telling Becky about his trip. He describes the weather and how much he enjoyed Acapulco, giving their reunion a domestic, conversational rhythm: after the intensity of their greeting, he catches her up on the ordinary details of his travels.

Becky and the Camping Weekend

On Friday morning, George is among those heading out for a weekend of camping at a nearby lake. Lucille loves the outdoors, and Elena is excited that Sammy and George will be coming too. The outing also includes Isabel, Sir Robert, Blake Leaf, and Tabitha; when the group arrives, Sir Robert and Blake Leaf have already begun setting up tents in front of a large old RV.

George goes with the others to look for firewood. Later, Elena and Sammy watch him and Becky bicker playfully. George has only just returned, yet Becky is already annoyed with him, a familiar pattern that Elena recognizes as typical of Becky. Their teasing quarrels supply a domestic counterpoint to the larger gathering: the relationship is affectionate, but its ease includes irritation as well as physical warmth.
