She is present in the Imperial audience chamber on Arrakis after the fall of the Atreides, standing behind the throne as the Emperor's Truthsayer, her "clawlike hands" tapping his shoulder. She is the one who whispers in the Emperor's ear, guiding his interrogation of Baron Harkonnen. When Alia Atreides is brought before the Emperor, Mohiam recoils, calling the child an "abomination" and demanding her death, revealing her terror of the prenatal exposure to the Water of Life that made Alia a pre-born Reverend Mother. She accuses Jessica of betraying the Sisterhood, crying, "Kill her!" with a fury that exposes the Bene Gesserit's deepest fears.
Final Confrontation with Paul-Muad'Dib
In the climactic scene in the Arrakeen Residency, Mohiam faces Paul as the victor. She attempts to use her authority, telling him, "I welcomed you to the ranks of humans. Don't besmirch that." But Paul, now fully the Kwisatz Haderach, turns her own power against her. He roars, "Silence!" with the Voice, and she reels back, "face blank with shock at the power with which he had seized her psyche." He reminds her of the Gom Jabbar and declares, "I can kill you with a word." He then exposes the Bene Gesserit's ninety-generation breeding program, stating that he will never do their bidding. Mohiam is reduced to a trembling, impotent figure, her life's work and her authority utterly shattered by the very being she helped create.
