Arc's Final Sacrifice

Gunsoul

Arc's Final Sacrifice is the decisive reversal in Arc's battle with Manhattan: as his Fukushima Paradise threatens to erase both her and Yuan, she turns her own life into the force that breaks his Authority. The victory comes at the cost she understands from the outset. Her body and bullet-core are spent in a final counterattack, leaving Yuan alive with the Cube of Natho and the weight of her death.

The Battle's Closing Imbalance

The sacrifice occurs when the battle's outcome already appears settled. Arc's bullet-core is broken and her Authority crippled, while Manhattan's remains intact. The radiation of Fukushima Paradise relentlessly presses against Headshot Forge, Arc's Authority, and cracks appear in both the Authority and Arc's body. If her defense fails, Manhattan's power will vaporize them; if she forces it to prevail, she will pay with her existence. The impending destruction allows no safe third course.

Arc calls Yuan by name and asks him to end it all. Her voice echoes through the Authority of her soul, making the request part of the battle's immediate crisis rather than a detached farewell. In answer, a colossal flood of qi erupts from her. Her body brightens with fire and lightning, her circuits ignite, and her power breaks out of its container. Ripples spread across Headshot Forge until it begins to push back Fukushima Paradise. The change is visible in the competing forces: the Authority that was being driven toward collapse starts resisting Manhattan's radiation.

A Last Request, Not a Vow

Arc knows what the surge means. She is pouring all of herself into her Authority, not merely drawing on a reserve of strength that can later be replenished. Yuan panics and warns that she will die, but Arc answers that she is already condemned: failure means Manhattan will destroy them, while success will still cost her life. Her choice is therefore not a rescue without consequence, but a decision about what her death can accomplish.

Before the end, Arc asks Yuan for one favor, explicitly saying no vow is required. She wants him to protect the Cube of Natho with his life. Yuan accepts without bargaining or trying to revise the request. The exchange recalls the oath that bound their teacher-and-disciple relationship: Arc had sworn to teach him cultivation if he promised to oppose Manhattan and those who followed the Nuclear Path. Now, faced with her death, she does not invoke that binding promise. She makes a personal request, and Yuan agrees to carry its burden.

Arc also names the wider stakes in her final appeal. She condemns the Nuke, the Gun, and the Blade as powers feeding on human pain, and urges Yuan to finish the work of opposing them. Her words connect the immediate duel with a larger struggle, while her specific request keeps the moment anchored in what Yuan can do next: protect the cube and survive the clash.

The Counterattack and Its Cost

Arc's bullet-core explodes within her chest. The pulse that follows carries all her life and strength, vaporizes her body, and surges through her Authority. It drives Yuan backward and pushes Fukushima Paradise's light back in one final contest of power. Manhattan's Authority collapses under the counterattack; his scream carries across it as his manifested core breaks under the strain of Headshot Forge.

The clash shatters reality in a bright flash and throws Yuan against steel debris. He is knocked out of Gun Demon Incarnation and returned to human form. The Cube of Natho slips from his grasp and rolls onto radioactive dust. Around him, the ruins of Battletown reassert themselves as the old universe displaces the lingering traces of Headshot Forge and Fukushima Paradise. Arc's defeat of Manhattan is thus made concrete not only by the breaking of his core, but by the collapse of the realities that had enclosed their battle.

Aftermath and Significance

There is no body left to recover. Nothing remains of Arc but dust and shrapnel. Yuan's bullet-core skips a beat in guilt as he recognizes that she gave her life to save the world and stop Manhattan. Her sacrifice converts a losing defense into a successful counterattack, but leaves its surviving witness to confront both the victory and its price.

The event also sharpens the change in what the fight asks of Yuan. Earlier, he had accepted Arc's oath-bound instruction and the demand to oppose Manhattan; here, he cannot protect his mentor from the consequence of her own decision. He can only honor the request she makes as she dies. The Cube of Natho becomes the immediate object of that obligation, while Arc's denunciation of the powers feeding on pain extends her final charge beyond the battlefield. The scene's reversal is complete but not consoling: Manhattan's core is broken, the world returns to the ruins, and Arc is gone.
