The Baby in the Fire

A Narrow Escape Trapped in the Cellar During the High Ridge attack, baby Natalie is trapped in the cellar with her mother Helen and other women. The house is burning, and the bulkhead door is locked. Natalie is coughing and crying. Rescue Ralph and Lois appear and break the lock. Lois carries Natalie out of the burning building. The baby is safe, but she has been exposed to smoke and terror. A Second Chance Natalie survives the attack. Her mother Helen is grateful beyond words. The little girl has no idea how close she came to death.

The Near Miss on Harris Avenue

The Final Threat Atropos's Revenge Five years later, Atropos plans to kill Natalie as revenge against Ralph. He arranges for a car to hit her on Harris Avenue. Natalie is walking her dog Rosalie when the green Ford approaches. Ralph's Sacrifice Ralph pushes Natalie out of the way and is struck himself. Natalie is unharmed, but she witnesses Ralph's death. She is too young to fully understand, but she knows that Ralph saved her. A Life Saved Natalie grows up knowing that Ralph Roberts gave his life for her. She becomes a strong, confident young woman, determined to make the most of the second chance she was given.
