The Backyard Performance

The Backyard Performance is the climactic public event of Nightbitch's transformation, the night she abandons all pretense of human motherhood and stages a raw, carnivorous spectacle for the assembled mothers of her town. It is the moment her private, monstrous becoming becomes a shared, witnessed phenomenon, and the point at which her art, her rage, and her feral identity converge in a single, unforgettable act. The event gathers the Book Mommies—the herbal-remedy crew, those committed to leggings and essential oils—into her backyard, where they witness a creature that is part dog, part bear, part werewolf, and are transformed themselves, if only for one night, into something wild and reverent.
