Chevis
SpontaneousChevis is an investigator working with Duan Jeffries on the case against Edward Villarosas. His decisive contribution is securing and conducting a prison interview with Stein Green: Green admits that Villarosas hired him to kill both wives and provides information about where their bodies were left, turning years-old suspicions into a direct account from the man who carried out the killings.
Role in the Investigation
Chevis advances the inquiry by persuading a prison warden that he needs to speak with Green. The warden agrees, and Chevis sets their meeting for Wednesday at noon. In a later conversation, Duan reports that Chevis has gone to a prison in Florida to question Green, connecting the planned meeting to the breakthrough that follows.
The call also places Chevis within a wider investigative effort. He asks Duan whether anyone has heard from Antron Blair, who is checking Villarosas’s cell-phone records from five years earlier, landline records from ten years earlier, and bank statements from the same period. Chevis’s prison interview and Antron’s review of records represent different routes toward testing the case against Villarosas.
The Interview with Stein Green
Chevis questions Green intensely and persistently. Under that pressure, Green admits that Villarosas hired him to get rid of both wives because Villarosas believed they had been unfaithful. Green further says he killed the women after beating them, claiming the violence was carried out on Villarosas’s instructions to teach them a lesson.
The interview yields more than an allegation about who ordered the killings. According to Duan’s account of Chevis’s report, Green does not hesitate to tell them where the women’s bodies are. The combination of a confession, an alleged employer, an asserted motive, and information about the bodies gives the investigators specific leads with which to pursue and corroborate Green’s account.
Significance and Limits of the Disclosure
Green’s admission changes the status of the investigation: Villarosas is no longer implicated only by suspicion and earlier claims about his jealousy and threats. Chevis’s questioning produces a direct accusation from a man who says he committed the murders at Villarosas’s direction. The account also links Villarosas’s repeated allegations of infidelity to the alleged motive for violence against his wives.
The disclosure remains Green’s account, as relayed by Chevis and then Duan; the interview itself does not establish that every detail has been independently verified. Its force lies in the concrete claims it puts before the investigators, especially Green’s stated knowledge of where the women’s bodies were. Chevis’s persistence is what brings that information into the case.
