The Diamond Gift

The Diamond Gift The Visit from the Abbe Monte Cristo, disguised as the Abbe Busoni, visits Caderousse at his inn. He gives him a diamond worth 50,000 francs, claiming it is a gift from Dantes' will. Caderousse is overwhelmed by greed. The Confession Caderousse reveals the conspiracy against Dantes, but he also admits his own complicity. The diamond is a test of his character, which he fails.

Murder and Death

Murder and Death The Robbery at Monte Cristo's Caderousse, now a criminal, attempts to rob Monte Cristo's house. He is killed by Andrea Cavalcanti during the attempt. The Dying Confession Before dying, Caderousse confesses to the priest (Monte Cristo again) and signs a statement implicating Andrea. His death is a direct result of his greed and betrayal.
