Arc–Czar Zoa
GunsoulArc–Czar Zoa is an Authority archrivalry defined by a victory that was anything but clean. Arc defeated Czar Zoa, but their confrontation destroyed her body and damaged her soul; its consequences endured in her wounded core, her altered Authority, and the landscape associated with her battle. The relationship therefore joins triumph to lasting injury: Arc won the encounter, yet did not emerge unchanged.
The Encounter and Its Cost
Ammobog is described as the holy resting place of a Gunsoul who defeated Czar Zoa, a nuclear cultivator, years earlier. Arc’s own account supplies the personal cost behind that victory. She recalled fighting a powerful death-worshiping cultivator and defeating him, only for him to destroy her body and damage her soul as he departed for Nowhere. The accounts connect Arc’s battle to the defeat of Czar Zoa, while Arc’s description makes clear that the outcome was not an uncomplicated triumph.
The damage went beyond bodily injury. Arc explained that cultivators’ Authorities are physical manifestations of their cores and wills. When two Authorities manifest in the same place, they clash and take damage. Yuan recognized the implication: Arc’s Authority had been damaged in the confrontation. The contest between her and Czar Zoa thus reached into the foundations of her power, leaving an injury that outlasted the encounter itself.
A Victory That Reshaped Arc
After Arc’s body was destroyed, her squire—who did not understand the immortality of cultivators—planted her bullet-core in the land. Arc’s flesh grew back and healed, but her core did not. The distinction is central to the aftermath: her body could return, while the source of her Authority remained impaired. Arc could not control that Authority as she once had, and its open borders allowed her qi to leak rather than keeping its potency contained.
The land’s condition reflects that ongoing damage. Arc said that people who called the place Ammobog were wrong: its name was Headshot Forge. The two names mark different understandings of the same place. Ammobog is associated with the Gunsoul’s victory over Czar Zoa and with ammunition growing from a bullet-core; Headshot Forge is the name Arc gave the manifestation of her own core and soul. The battle’s legacy is therefore both personal and material, persisting in Arc’s damaged power and in the terrain shaped around it.
The Wound’s Continuing Effects
Arc’s Authority spread widely but thinned at its edges, and she could not prevent qi from escaping it. Even so, it carried enough qi to taint everything within five kilometers of her. Yuan understood the weakness of the veil around the place as a consequence of that uncontrolled spread. The battle with Czar Zoa had not merely left Arc with a private injury: the damage affected how her Authority occupied the surrounding land.
When Yuan asked whether the Nuclear Path cultivators had killed Arc the first time, she did not answer. Her silence leaves the precise circumstances of her original defeat unstated, even as her account establishes that her opponent destroyed her body and damaged her soul. It does not erase the clear result—Arc defeated the cultivator—but it preserves the asymmetry of the event: victory and grievous harm belong to the same history.
Legacy and Significance
The Arc–Czar Zoa rivalry matters less as a continuing exchange than as a defining encounter whose consequences remain active. Arc’s damaged core limits her control; her open Authority continues to leak qi; and Headshot Forge bears the physical trace of that wounded power. Her victory is commemorated in the account of the Gunsoul who defeated Czar Zoa, yet Arc’s own history complicates any simple tale of conquest. The defeated opponent left a mark on the victor that neither bodily recovery nor the passage of years could undo.
