Sira Channel
TideSira Channel is the site of Mhuirlan’s great seal, an underwater ring of dark stone that stretches between the coast near Perlkastel and the shores of Mhuirlan’s narrow part. Its scale and central rune make the channel more than a geographic feature: it is the setting of a protective boundary whose form Galahad Stormcrane studies closely.
Setting and Extent
Prince James tells Galahad that a seal lies in the sea just outside his window. Galahad confirms its presence and describes a circle perhaps a mile wide, visible beneath the water on a clear day. The conversation presents the seal as a feature of the prince’s immediate coastal surroundings, while emphasizing that its full shape is submerged.
The Great Seal
A map in the library shows the great seal at the bottom of Sira Channel. Its perfect ring runs from the coast near Perlkastel across the channel to the shores of Mhuirlan’s narrow part. A single rune stands at its center. Galahad has been staring at that rune since opening the book to the map, making the marked center the focus of his attention.
Narrative Significance
The channel’s seal connects a visible landscape to the larger protective system watched over by the masters of the Fortress of Maith. Its immense circular boundary and solitary central rune give the protection a precise geographic form; Galahad’s sustained attention to the map indicates that understanding this feature matters to his investigation.
