Coil

Gunsoul

A Coil marks a level in cultivation, and crossing one can distinguish a fighter’s capabilities from those of someone still below it. The evidence gives no complete account of the Coil system, but its Fifth Coil example and comparisons of combat strength show that these thresholds matter both for perception and for judging the danger of a fight.

Thresholds and Perception

Arc had crossed the Fifth Coil and no longer depended on ordinary sight. Her eyes had become metal inside their sockets, while her mind perceived everything around her in a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree field. Her vision could penetrate most objects, walls, illusions, and barriers; without concentrating, it extended for miles, and when focused on one point, for hundreds of kilometers. Truesight also let her read subtle changes in ambient qi with exceptional accuracy.

That perception did not solve every problem. Czar Zoa concealed his core by filling his flesh with radiation and hiding his qi behind a Barrier. Arc could see through the Barrier, but needed to observe his techniques to overcome the radiation masking his core. The Fifth Coil therefore appears alongside formidable sensory capacities, not as a guarantee that every obstacle or opponent becomes transparent.

Combat Gaps

Arc invoked the difference in cultivation and ability to warn Yuan Guang against joining her fight with Czar Zoa: she judged Zoa to be as far beyond Yuan as Yuan was beyond another fighter present, and said Yuan would not last five minutes even with Gun Demon Incarnation. Yuan rejected the warning by pointing out that Arc was no longer at her best from their earlier encounter. Her expression confirmed his concern that she might not survive, while her determination to stop Zoa from escaping with the Nuke reflected the global catastrophe at stake.

The exchange presents Coil-related advancement as part of a larger scale of power rather than a precise numerical measure. Relative strength shapes who can safely enter a confrontation, but experience, current condition, and the consequences of retreat also bear on the choice. Arc’s warning stresses the gulf between Yuan and Zoa; Yuan’s reply turns that gulf back on Arc, whose former strength did not guarantee survival in her present state.

Limits of the Evidence

The account identifies Arc as having crossed the Fifth Coil and associates that threshold with her unusual perception, but it does not lay out the full sequence of Coil stages or define the process of crossing one. A later comparison describes the Gun as hitting harder than Manhattan, being twice as resilient, and moving just as fast, while Yuan considers whether to use Gun Demon Incarnation; it does not specify a Coil for either fighter. The concept is thus established through a concrete threshold and the combat disparities around it, rather than through a complete technical explanation.
