The Herb Party

The Herb Party is the scene in which Nightbitch, driven by the cold terror left by the cat murder and a desperate need for equilibrium, finally capitulates to Jen's relentless multi-level marketing recruitment and joins the herbal supplement circle, handing over six hundred dollars in cash along with the other mothers. It marks the moment when her critical stance toward the world collapses into a need for belonging, and when the language of "happiness as a choice" — first voiced by her husband — is fully weaponized as a commercial instrument.
