Athor's Fall When the mob breaks in, Athor 77 refuses to flee. Beenay tries to save him but is swept away. He sees Athor disappear under the crowd, likely dead. Escape Beenay escapes through a back exit and into the night. The sight of the Stars overwhelms him, and he wanders in a daze for days.

Wandering in the Woods

Lost and Found The Delirium Beenay suffers from temporary insanity due to the Stars. He wanders through forests, fights with strangers, and survives on berries. He may have killed someone in self-defense. Recovery After two days, his mind clears. He remembers Raissta 717 and the Sanctuary. He sets out to find her. The Journey He travels through burned suburbs and finally reaches the Sanctuary, only to find it empty. A note says everyone has gone to Amgando.

Reunion with Raissta

A Tender Meeting The Sanctuary Beenay arrives at the Sanctuary to find Raissta waiting for him alone. She refused to leave without him. They embrace, relieved to be alive. The Injury Raissta has a severe leg infection from a cut sustained during their escape. They cannot travel to Amgando immediately. They decide to stay and seek help. The New Role They are taken in by the border guards of Restoration Province, who value Beenay's intelligence. He becomes their 'official professor,' helping with communications and planning.
