John Coffey Heals Mr. Jingles

As Mr. Jingles lies dying on the Green Mile, John Coffey calls out from his cell, asking for the mouse to be given to him. Paul Edgecombe, remembering his own healing, hands the broken mouse to Coffey. Coffey cups the mouse in his hands, inhales deeply, and then exhales a cloud of black insects that turn white and disappear. The mouse is completely healed, running and squeaking again, though with a slight limp. Delacroix is overjoyed, and the guards are stunned by the miracle. This event confirms Coffey's extraordinary power and deepens the bond between him and the guards, especially Edgecombe and Brutus Howell.
