Initial Contact

The Corporation Reacts Bryant's Call Inspector Bryant calls the Rosen Association to warn them of the Nexus-6 issue. Eldon Rosen is nervous; the company's profits depend on the new brain unit. Setting the Trap Eldon and Rachael Rosen plan to discredit the Voigt-Kampff test by presenting Rachael as a human. If the test fails to identify her as an android, they can claim it is unreliable. The Test Deckard arrives, and Rachael submits to the test. She answers with calculated ambiguity, but Deckard's final question about babyhide leather reveals her true nature. The trap fails.

The Owl Offer

Bribery and Deception The Real Owl Eldon offers Deckard a real owl, Scrappy, if he will accept the test's validity and proceed with the hunt. The owl is a symbol of the ultimate desire: a living animal. The Condition Rachael insists on conditions: the owl cannot be willed, and any offspring belong to the association. Deckard realizes the offer is a trap to bind him. Refusal Deckard declines, but the offer haunts him. He later tests Rachael again and proves she is an android. The association's plan backfires, but they have given him a taste of what he could have.

Rachael's Seduction Mission

The Android's Gambit The Phone Call Deckard, exhausted and demoralized, calls Rachael for help. She agrees to meet him at the St. Francis Hotel, intending to seduce him and neutralize his effectiveness. The Hotel Room Rachael uses bourbon and seduction to disarm Deckard. She admits she has done this before with other bounty hunters. The act is both a manipulation and a cry for connection. The Aftermath Deckard almost kills her but cannot. He lets her go. Rachael's mission fails to stop him from retiring the remaining androids, but she takes revenge by killing his goat.
