The Argument They argue about the mood organ and his job. Iran calls him a murderer hired by the cops. He is defensive. The Resolution He dials for her a setting of pleased acknowledgment. She reluctantly agrees. The tension is unresolved.

The Goat Purchase

A Surprise The Purchase Deckard uses his bounty money to buy a black Nubian goat. He wants to surprise Iran and restore their hope. Iran's Joy Iran is overjoyed. She kisses him. They name the goat. It is a symbol of their shared dream. The Fusion Iran wants to share the joy through the empathy box. Deckard is reluctant but agrees. Their connection seems restored.

The Goat's Death

The Loss The Discovery Iran finds the goat dead, pushed off the roof. She is devastated. She tells Deckard when he returns. The Grief Deckard is numb. He had hoped the goat would cure his depression. Now it is gone. The Strain The marriage is strained again. Iran feels powerless. Deckard retreats into himself.

Reconciliation

She orders artificial flies. Peace They are together. The marriage survives. They have each other, even if the goat is gone.
