Church's Death and Resurrection

While Rachel and the children are visiting her parents in Chicago for Thanksgiving, Louis discovers that Church has been hit by a truck and killed. Jud Crandall helps him bury the cat, but instead of using the Pet Sematary, Jud leads Louis deep into the woods to an ancient Micmac burying ground. They climb a treacherous deadfall and cross a swamp to reach a high, flat-topped hill where Louis buries Church under a cairn of stones. The next day, Church returns home, seemingly alive but profoundly changed—clumsy, smelly, and with a strange, vacant look in his eyes. Louis is horrified and begins to understand the dark power of the place.
