Norma Crandall's Heart Attack

While Ellie is trick-or-treating at the Crandalls' house, Norma Crandall suffers a heart attack. Louis, who is present, performs CPR and saves her life. Jud is deeply grateful, and this act of kindness creates a powerful debt of gratitude. Louis later reflects that this event may have been the catalyst for Jud's decision to later lead him to the Micmac burying ground, as Jud feels he must repay Louis for saving his wife's life. Norma is hospitalized but recovers, though her health remains fragile.
