Anniversary Night Visit

Noah, now partially paralyzed, returns to his room. He is determined to see Allie on their anniversary. He waits until the night nurse, Janice, goes for coffee, then shuffles to Allie's room. He enters and closes the door. He sits on her bed and slips a love note under her pillow. He touches her face, and she wakes. She does not scream. Instead, she kisses him and says she has missed him. They embrace, and she begins to unbutton his shirt. Noah feels a miracle: she remembers him. They make love, and Noah feels young again. He knows that their love has triumphed, at least for this moment.
